Pure, unfiltered and unpasteurized
Alfa Ongefilterd Puur
Alfa Unfiltered Puur is a fresh, unfiltered and unpasteurized pilsner, also known as a Kellerbier, served directly from the lager tank at our family brewery in Schinnen, Limburg. Because the beer is neither filtered nor pasteurized, live yeast remains in suspension. This gives the beer its distinctive character and helps preserve its natural freshness and aromas. Every glass is served at peak freshness.
An honest, pure beer drawn straight from the brewery tanks.
Unfiltered beer: A tribute to brewing tradition
In earlier times, beer was never filtered or pasteurized. What came out of the lager tank was what people drank: natural, lively, and hazy from the yeast still in suspension.
With Alfa Unfiltered Puur, we bring that time back. This ‘Kellerbier’ is a tribute to the original brewing process our family has worked with for generations.
“We do not follow the crowd; we follow our own path, just like in the old days. Pure, honest, and without compromise.”
Harry Meens, fourth-generation family brewer
Tasting experience – straight from the source
Because Alfa Unfiltered Puur is not pasteurized or filtered, its shelf life is limited. What does that mean exactly? During the final step of the brewing process, filtration, the living yeast cells are normally removed to extend the beer’s shelf life. With this beer, we deliberately skip that step. The yeast therefore remains in the beer and contributes to its liveliness and natural flavor development.
Precisely because this beer is not filtered or pasteurized, it is available only fresh from the tap at the Alfa Brewery Café and during the Alfa Brewery tour.
Want to experience what it feels like to pour straight from the source? Reserve a tap table at the brewery café and pour your own glass of Alfa Unfiltered Puur, a Kellerbier as it was meant to be. An experience you will not soon forget.
Not available in bottles or kegs
Because Alfa Unfiltered Puur is truly unfiltered and unpasteurized, we cannot package it in bottles or kegs.
Without these steps, the shelf life is much shorter, and that requires constant care and control. Here, in our brewery, we can monitor quality every day, exactly as it should be for a beer that is pure, alive, and honest.
To bottle it, the beer would have to be pasteurized. That would affect its character and freshness. It simply would not be the same beer anymore. That is why we choose not to do it. We stay true to our values: quality, tradition, and authenticity.
Every sip of Alfa Unfiltered Puur shows that craftsmanship, family values, and independent thinking lead to the best beers.
